The state of Michigan puts a file on the internet that contains all of the state minimum pricing for each liquor item sold in the state. We've built this tool so that it will go out and grab that file, and import the state minimum pricing into the POS system. This is a process that you will do yourself, when you want to do it, probably after you get your new tags.
Downloading the new pricing is fairly simple. Click the "Download" button in the MI Liquor Management tool. You will see two options:
Click Download, then wait a moment. You'll probably see a white box pop up, some stuff will happen pretty quickly and then you should see a message that says it was successful.
The next step is to import the file into the POS system. Click the "Import File" button now, and go get a cup of coffee. The import will process roughly 10,000 items into the database. This will take some time. You will see two prompts telling you that it's working on it. Give it 5 or 10 minutes to process this file.
When you import the liquor pricing into the system, one of several things can happen. The pricing may just flow right into your system and you don't have to do any additional steps, or your system may create batches that you need to execute. This import will create what's called an External Batch, meaning that the batch came from outside your system. Many stores have the system set up so that External Batches are executed automatically. If you're running this import at a convenience store, it's most likely that External Batches are set to automatic. If this is the case, you won't have to do any additional steps. The pricing will be updated. Grocery stores on the other hand, you may need to go in and execute the batches manually.
Convenience stores - Batches will execute automatically and the pricing will be updated without having to do anything else.
Grocery stores - Batches will be created in your system, and you may need to go in and manually execute the batches yourself depending on how your system is set up.
